Polish e-commerce market

Executive summary

The Polish online store market in 2026 does not have a single "store price" — it has four different economics. WooCommerce dominates the PLN 5,000–15,000 segment (median CHF 5,000), PrestaShop sits at PLN 8,000–42,000 (median PLN 15,000), Magento Adobe Commerce is the enterprise option (median PLN 64,000, plus USD 22,000/year in licensing). SaaS platforms (Shoper, IdoSell, Shoplo) operate on a subscription model, with a median of PLN 184/month for small stores, rising to PLN 5,400/month for premium solutions. Dedicated B2B platforms are a different league altogether: median PLN 226,500, with peaks of PLN 800,000. The choice of model (SaaS vs open source vs dedicated) drives cost differences of a thousandfold.

Methodology

1. Methodology

The report is based on 108 publicly available price observations from 70 market entities: implementation agency price lists, SaaS platform price lists (Shoper, IdoSell, Shoplo, AtomStore, BaseLinker), industry analyses, Clutch/GoodFirms profiles, and agency blog posts.

Each observation records the tier (project scope), platform (WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Magento, Shopify, Shoper, IdoSell, dedicated), region, provider type and market position. The SaaS tier reports monthly subscription costs; the remaining tiers report one-off implementation costs (net, excluding VAT).

Stratified sample: ~50% interactive agencies, ~15% SaaS platforms (subscription price lists), ~9% software houses, ~26% other (freelancers, marketplaces, benchmarks). 70 entities is a strongly representative sample of the Polish e-commerce market — it covers both the lower SME market and the enterprise platform segment.

The statistical analysis reports the median (P50), quartiles (P25, P75) and the min–max range. Outliers (projects worth PLN 500,000–800,000 for enterprise solutions) strongly skew the arithmetic mean, which is why the report relies on medians.

The identities of specific entities are anonymised (codes ECM-001..070); the full list of sources is available as a JSON dataset. Data was collected between March and May 2026.

> Note: the "SaaS" tier reports the monthly subscription for a ready-made platform (Shoper, IdoSell, BaseLinker). The remaining tiers report a one-off implementation cost. These are two different economic models.

Tier definitions

  • SaaS: a ready-made subscription platform (Shoper, IdoSell, Shoplo, Sky-Shop, BaseLinker). The client does not own the code and pays monthly.
  • Starter: a store built on WooCommerce/PrestaShop, up to ~50 products, a ready-made template with customisation, a basic catalogue.
  • Mid-size: 100–2,000 products, custom visual identity, 2–4 integrations (payments, courier, invoicing, BaseLinker), local Polish market.
  • Enterprise: 1,000+ products, dedicated features, ERP/CRM integrations, marketing automation, a custom catalogue.
  • B2B platform: dedicated software with order workflows, credit limits, individual price lists, ERP integrations.
  • Maintenance: monthly costs after go-live (SLA, updates, security).
Platform vs price

Key observations by platform

WooCommerce (P50 = CHF 5,000, n=21) — the widest spread in the Polish market. From CHF 750 for a modest startup (Sklep-WP price list) to CHF 15,000 for advanced implementations with custom work. Dominates the SME segment — it is the "default technology" of the Polish e-commerce market.

PrestaShop (P50 = CHF 7,500, n=16) — the second most popular choice, but with a higher median. Implementations mostly fall between CHF 4,000 and 25,000. PrestaShop's dedicated B2B speciality: CHF 25,000–65,000 (Sellision, Investnet, The New Look).

Magento Adobe Commerce (P50 = CHF 32,000, n=9) — this is already enterprise territory. The Adobe Commerce licence alone costs USD 22,000/year (roughly CHF 44,000). Implementations run CHF 20,000–50,000+. Polish reference points: SOHOshop Magento B2B CHF 50,000–400,000; KC Mobile packages from CHF 20,000.

Shopify Plus in headless form (with Vue Storefront / Sylius / Studio Kalmus) — from roughly EUR 2,100/mo plus a headless integration costing CHF 20,000–65,000.

Shoper (SaaS) — the most popular Polish platform. Subscription from CHF 85/mo (Basic) to CHF 2,700/mo (Premium); Netplace reseller plans from CHF 189/year for selected packages.

IdoSell — a broad range of CHF 15–1,050/mo; the GO+ implementation package costs CHF 7,500; targets the Polish SME market.

BaseLinker — a CHF 0/mo starter package, but realistically for operational stores: CHF 50–500/mo (Edikson, KC Mobile Setup/Standard/Enterprise packages at CHF 1,500 / 2,500 / 5,000+).

Sellision SLA for PrestaShop: CHF 1,450 / 2,400 / 4,800 per month for "Active Development" — the top premium maintenance tier.

Distribution finding: interactive agencies, median PLN 4,000, serve 70% of the market (the SME segment, company-site scope). Software houses, median PLN 30,800, play a different game entirely — projects with integrations, custom logic, headless architecture. Freelancers compete in the budget segment and the lower mid-market.

Anomaly: some interactive agencies achieve single-project prices around PLN 48 million. These are multi-year corporate implementations (LOT, Tauron, Żabka, NBP) — single instances, but ones that strongly skew the arithmetic mean (PLN 88,528). This is why the report relies on the median.

Interactive agencies (50% of the sample) serve the Polish SME mainstream — WooCommerce/PrestaShop, median PLN 15,000. Software houses (6%) target enterprise: PrestaShop/Magento/dedicated, median PLN 32,000, P75 = PLN 162,500 — usually dedicated B2B projects.

SaaS platforms are a separate economic model — they sell subscriptions, median CHF 300/mo. This is a completely different purchasing decision than an agency implementation.

Technology stack

6. Technology stack vs price

Seven factors with an impact of ≥ 50%:

  1. Platform choice. Shoper SaaS PLN 488/mo vs Magento Adobe Commerce PLN 64,000 implementation + USD 22k/year — a difference of roughly 100:1. The single most fundamental decision.
  2. Number of products and variants. Market calculators (KC Mobile, Webixa) consistently show that >2,000 products require a dedicated importer, variants, attributes — +30–50% in cost.
  3. Integrations. BaseLinker integration: PLN 800–3,000. Allegro: PLN 1,500–5,000. Empik/Amazon: PLN 3,000–8,000. ERP (Comarch/Subiekt): PLN 8,000–25,000. Each integration adds 5–15% to the cost.
  4. B2B vs B2C. A B2B store has a median of PLN 226,500 vs B2C's median of PLN 15,000. The difference: individual catalogues, credit limits, customer-specific price lists, order workflows, ERP-bound order management.
  5. Multi-store / multilingual. Each additional instance adds +20–40% to the cost (confirmed across 8 price lists).
  6. Performance/headless. Standard WooCommerce + template vs Next.js + headless WooCommerce: +50–100% (Studio Kalmus, Sky-Shop, Vue Storefront).
  7. Compliance and security. PCI DSS (payments), GDPR compliance, security audits — for stores handling card data: +CHF 10,000–20,000 one-off plus a retainer.
Conclusions

7. Key market findings

(1) The median holds up, the mean misleads. The arithmetic mean of the Polish website market (including corporate implementations) exceeds PLN 88,000. That figure is useless to a prospective client. A median of PLN 5,900 for a company site captures the "typical offer" far better.

(2) Three centres of gravity. The Polish 2026 market clusters around three median points: PLN 2,500 (a business card site, the "cheap site for a tradesperson" segment), PLN 5,900 (a company site, a "standard service business") and PLN 15,000 (an expanded site, a "business with processes"). Above that figure the dedicated segment begins — projects worth PLN 30,000+ are usually web applications hiding under the name of a website.

(3) Dispersion grows with the tier. A business card site has a standard deviation of PLN 1,400 around a median of PLN 2,500 (CV = 56%); enterprise has a standard deviation of CHF 775,000 around a median of PLN 100,000 (CV = 1550%). The higher the tier, the greater the role of individual project arrangements.

(4) WordPress vs Next.js are two different markets. Although technically both are website options, in pricing terms they are two different segments — a median of PLN 3,600 vs PLN 11,500. Clients should choose their stack deliberately, depending on (a) performance/SEO requirements, (b) integration needs, (c) long-term maintenance budget.

(5) Hourly rate for Polish software houses in 2026: PLN 100–400/h. Our observations show a consistent range: freelancer PLN 50–150/h, interactive agency PLN 120–250/h, software house PLN 200–400/h. Top premium Polish software houses publish rates of USD 50–99/h on Clutch (USD 25–49/h for some outliers — e.g. Apptension, Crafton, despite clients such as Google, LOT, Tauron).

(6) Lemon.io 2026 hourly rate: senior PL USD 41.70/h, strong senior USD 50.50/h, max USD 65/h (roughly CHF 85–133/h). A realistic benchmark for a senior developer from the Polish market in 2026.

(7) Useme 2025 (average hourly project rates on the platform): development PLN 5,014, UX/UI PLN 3,656, marketing PLN 1,500–2,500. This shows the freelance market achieves significantly lower rates than agencies.

(8) Public grants influence the market. In 2026, the Polish PARP "SME Digitalisation" programme offers grants of PLN 5,000–100,000, creating a new segment of business owners ready to invest in quality websites — in the PLN 30,000–60,000 range, which was previously marginal.

Digital Vantage benchmark

8. Digital Vantage benchmark in market context

A section on transparent positioning. DV figures are not included in the market median.

DV currently does not have a fixed store price list — pricing is quoted individually via the calculator. All implementations are built on the Next.js + Payload CMS + MongoDB + Stripe stack, deliberately outside WordPress/WooCommerce.

Scope of typical DV projects vs market medians per tier

DV scenario

Technology choice

DV deliberately does not offer WooCommerce/PrestaShop — a conscious departure from the CHF 5,000 segment. Rationale: for projects under CHF 7,500, better solutions exist (Shoper SaaS or a WordPress agency) than trying to adapt Next.js. DV enters the game for projects where:

  1. Unique business logic is required that cannot be achieved with off-the-shelf plugins.
  2. Performance and Core Web Vitals are critical (B2B stores with tens of thousands of products, international stores, high-traffic sites).
  3. Headless architecture is justified — store + mobile app + ERP/PIM integrations.
  4. Long-term TCO outweighs CAPEX — clients running a store for 5+ years and planning to scale.

Strategic conclusion: DV is underpriced in the B2B segment

Analysis of the B2B market median (CHF 113,250 for dedicated solutions, CHF 188,250 for custom platforms) shows that DV's typical quote of CHF 40,000 for a Next.js B2B project falls in the lower quartile of the market (P25 = CHF 30,000). For B2B projects with full ERP integrations, DV could deliberately reach CHF 60,000–100,000 — still below the market median, but above the current typical quote.

Methodology

9. Detailed methodology

Sources: 70 market entities. Categories: - Public agency price lists (agency_pricelist): 34 entities - Industry listicles and blog posts (listicle): 12 entities

  • SaaS platform price lists (saas_platform): 11 entities (Shoper, IdoSell, Shoplo, AtomStore, Sky-Shop, Edikson, BaseLinker) - Ranking portals (quote_aggregator): 4 entities (Clutch, GoodFirms) - Benchmark data (benchmark_data): 9 entities (market analyses)

Collection window: March–May 2026.

Exclusions: offers without a specific price range were excluded from the statistics.

Currency conversion: Q2 2026 average exchange rate, converted to Swiss francs (1 USD ≈ CHF 2.00, 1 EUR ≈ PLN 430).

Limitations: - The "maintenance" tier has only 2 observations per tier; broader data (SLA, agency retainers) is in the "context" dataset but was not aggregated statistically. - Dedicated B2B platforms — 9 observations, most via SALY/CStore/KC Mobile analyses. The values indicate direction and require validation in a future edition. - IdoSell pricing looks unusual — the wide gap between P25 (PLN 34) and P75 (PLN 7,524) results from the difference between free plans and enterprise packages. This is genuine market heterogeneity, not a sampling error.
